vrimg2exr converter

I've updated the vrimg2exr converter so that now it can convert very large files without problems - a test case was a 10000 x 10000 6 GB .vrimg file. The resulting .exr even opened without problems in 3dsmax 8
Link is the same as in the original message:
http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/VRay...2exr_14703.rar
Also, an option "-bufsize" has been added to control memory usage during the conversion. Typically, more memory means faster conversion.

Is it possible to export the renderid and the objectid channels using this conversor and vray 1.47.03?
I only get black images...We need the id channels in order to select particular objects in photoshop... The other channels (diffuse, reflection, etc...) export without problems, but the id related ones refuse to do it. Any ideas? My Youtube VFX Channel - http://www.youtube.com/panthon

Thanks for your answer Vlado.
I Know these channels are integer, but i think i´ve read somewhere vray can create a RGB representation of this integer values thus being able to save a RGB image. Maybe i´m wrong and this is a never version feature or maybe it doesn´t exist at all.
I´m able to render a rpf file, get into combustion, add a show g buffer operator to create a RGB render of the object id channel, which can be used in photoshop to mask objects. The problem is that I won´t have access to combustion to do that, so it would be better to have a rgb representation of this particular channel right from vray, providing that photoshop is not able to open rpf files.

you can split rpf files into seperate channels using a maxscript by "scriptgod" bobo:
http://www.scriptspot.com/start.asp?p=download&ID=267
works with max 8 afaik
put it in a script folder
run it via the maxscript listener
you will then find it in
customize-->customize ui--> category-->bobo's tools-->channelextractor
you can pull it on a toolbar
works with rpf file or rpf sequences
it's a real life-saver for people without combustion...
direct link:
http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs3/...xtractor_02.ms
i've successfully used it to extract z-depth passes from rpf files

vlado, does the vrimgtoexr work on builds newer than 1.47?
Comment

well, since max is able to save the channels it should also be able to read them
the function is
getChannelAsMask
according to the maxscript help it only returns 8-bit images, i am currently testing this (i used to get 16bit zdepth out of bobo's script)

Hi,
If you only specify the file name, isn't the converter supposed to extract all channels? Or do I have to enter them all manually?
