  • New VRay web site as well as new VRay build

    Hi all,

Finally got our new web site up and running. Please be patient if there are still any problems. If there is anything that you consider as 'not-working' please report to vray@chaosgroup.com

New 1.09.03K build is there as well. It is available as Advanced, Basic, DEMO, FREE versions for max 6.0beta,5.x,4.x,3.1 and viz 3.x,4.x platforms

    Enjoy.

    -----------------------
(*) Fixed a bug with Precalc'd overlapped irradiance map lookup type that could cause crashes.
(*) Better bump mapping with the irradiance map.
(*) Some compression added to the irradiance map; as a result the size of the irradiance map in memory and on disk is about 50% smaller at the price of slightly longer render times and somewhat reduced precision (not noticeable in most cases).
(*) The prepasses will not add detail to the irradiance map for more than the specified Max rate when using the Incremental add mode. Until now, rendering successive frames could add more and more detail in some areas, leading to very large irradiance maps.
(*) Added parameters to the Global switches rollout to control raytracing of transparencies. Until now those were hard-coded; occasionally however they need to be changed (for example with lots of overlapping transparent planes).
(*) Added a parameter to the Global switches rollout to skip the rendering of the final image and to compute only the irradiance/photon maps. This option is useful to speed up calculating irradiance maps for fly-through animations.

      sounds all great!

bugfixed the imaps... we never were sure if it's a networkissue or a vrayissue, but max crashes too often on networkjobs while using imaps.
Do you update your imapviewer too? ..this would be great.. maybe Vlado can code it as activeX control to add it to the maxenviroment with maxscript... dunno

well, the global switch for render image is very usefull and the parameter for the transparent planes ..hmm .. you know, it was time for me ..thx!!!!

eh ..btw, a shameless abuse of that announcment:
