    Is the new version only an internal build?

    Is this new version of VRay with unlimited poly rendering only an internal build? This is a major production and we need a stable renderer. When will the the "real" build, ie stable, be out? This could be a major factor in whether vray is used for the project and if our company will buy additional seats.

      sk_fly: It is already stable in my experience, and I have used the internal build on my 2 latest productions. But I guess there are still some issues to work out, and a few more features to add.

      I would suggest that you request access to it and try it for yourself.

        i´m now able to work with the latest build. i´m really suprised. a lot of new things. more than i thought of. happy to play with them. is it right that the irradiance map is now completly done by buckets ? i guess with a working DR it´s possible to work on irradiance map with several machines. i´m not quit sure waht the sunlight parameter is about ? maybe someone can give me a hint. is it right that an error happens during max startup concerning "VrayNet50.dl" ? .....i´m very happy with that new build !

          from the docs: Distributed rendering is not included in this build. You may get an error "VRayNet50.dlu failed to initialize". Rename or move VRayNet50.dlu to a different folder if you want to get rid of this warning.

            that´s what i did already. all in all i like that new build !!!! curious how it will work when all is really finished. "even" now it´s phantastic !! i just can´t figure out what that sunlight parameter is good for now ?

                  I it still capable of rendering unlimited polys if you turn motion blur on? how about high poly with motion blur and displacement? Right now I am working on a high res dino that has lots of secondary animation, skin jiggle etc, I can render it with only motion blur or displacement, not both or I get a quick exit. If I turn off the mesh smoth it works, but it is to low res to use. This leads me to believe that there are too many polys. I have even tried splitting the dino in two with camera clipping plans, but I still get a quick exit. I tried point chasing it and deletling half the mesh and I still get a quick exit. I have asked the technical director ot the studio where I work to get the latest internal build for me to test. The choas group people haven't gotten back to us yet, I'm really hoping the latest build will fix this problem. Anybody know? By the way I have tw gigs of ram and I get the quick exit when it is building the motion blur diaplacement raycast tree, and my ram has gotten up to about 1.7 or 1.8 gigs.

                    You should get your TD to check the download page on his account, since they might just make the build available there without emailing you back immediately. I imagine they must be getting a lot of requests.

                      Yes, the dynamic raycaster works fine and reasonably fast even with lots of polys and detailed displacement; if you sent an email, you will probably get an answer soon.
