He's checked it and its still not available, how long does it take to get. I am trying to evalute whether to you Vray for this project or start looking at Final Render, I need to create a pipeline.

          • what is a vray mesh?

            Comment

            • Hi glow

i think a Vray mesh is a featuer you get from the upcoming version of vray used for very big scenes that max usualy wouldnt handle anymore.

with the new "unlimeted geometry" features you still have the geometry limits making big scenes inside max.

the vraymesh seems to be a plugin coming with vray soon to solve these maxproblems with some sort of proxy objects, to stich such big scenes together

              greetings
              Tom

If ever you have use ribArchieve or delayRibArchive in renderman, this is a very similar concept.

                • so you put a low res tree in your scene and have it exchanged for a high res version from another file at render time?

                  • Internal Build

Excuse me if this is off topic -

I've just installed the internal build and two minutes after -
am having fast exits whenever I start to move a vrayfur
or vrayplane. Is this a bug?

I understand that the internal is BETA and prone to
weird behavior. Just wondering if this is a known bug or
                    what...

I would probably switch back to "n" until I get this sorted out ...

                    Regards,

                    Roy

                    • Ron, the whole idea of the internal build is to get as much feedback as possible; so bug reports and comments are welcome if you send them to vray@chaosgroup.com. Which display driver are you using in Max? Does the bug still happen with the software z-buffer driver?

                      Best regards,
                      Vlado

                      • Hi Vlado,

I'd like to know if there is anything I should do to have access to the intermal build.

Apologies Vlado, - I was actually wondering where to post seeing
we haven' t got no internal build forum yet. To answer your question,
Moving the Vrayplane or VrayFur while using OPENGL will cause MAX
to exit. It does not happen at Software-ZBuffer/Direct3D mode.

                            Regards,

                            ROy

                            • Roy: I'm unable to duplicate that crash here. Moving the VRay fur or plane works fine.
