Hey guys, I hope this to doesn't come off as me being annoying. I get so excited about Vray updates and wanted to know if there is any update coming out soon. Thanks!

Yes, we will be doing a small beta soon before the next official update. Features will include (among others):
*) Speed improvements in various areas (VRayHDRI, displacement/subdivision, shading in general and others);
*) No more subdivs - by default V-Ray determines sampling for lights and materials completely automatically based on the min. shading rate;
*) A new adaptive sampling algorithm (both bucket and progressive sampler) that produces more even noise distribution in the final image;
*) More even noise distribution for the progressive sampler during calculations;
*) Better CPU usage for the progressive sampler;
*) Better sub-pixel filtering for the progressive sampler;
*) Better light cache GI distribution which accounts for reflective materials (reflective caustics);
*) Updated default settings;
*) VRayClipper can clip against arbitrary objects;
*) Ability to compare V-Ray settings from the VFB;
*) Experimental support for machines with more than 64 logical cores;
*) VRayStochasticFlakesMtl material for car paint, snow and other glittery materials;
*) The VRayTriplanarTex texture will be included;
*) VRayGLSL shaders are now compiled through LLVM for a big speed boost of such materials and textures;
*) Distributed light cache - helps when doing DR with mixed machines.
*) New sky model (Hosek et al);
*) Raytraced rounded corners - allows the effect to work between different meshes, on proxies, with displacement/subdivision etc.
*) Ability to save all VFB color corrections as a LUT file.
*) Texture maps for VRayScatterVolumeMtl material;
RT improvements:
*) In-process RT engine (no separate command-line pops up; allows for choosing GPU devices in the renderer UI, multiple backburner renderers etc);
*) Support for VRayFur on GPU;
*) Support for light include/exclude on GPU;
*) Support for hair and particles from .vrmesh and Alembic files on GPU;
*) Initial support for GLSL shaders on GPU;
*) Better support for AMD GPUs;
*) Support for Multitile texture on GPU;
*) Support for VRayPlane;

* Sky model, cool cant wait to try that
* Awesome rounded corners. Saw your example pic somewhere else on the forum and it looked excellent!Kind Regards,

By design - a more extensive formula is used for simulation - the computational performance is 30% lower than the Preetham model. Furthermore, the Hosek-Wilkie method generates an increase in brightness at lower solar elevations, which goes against the natural course of things - nature dictates a decreasing brightness as the sun gets lower. Finally, under certain conditions, the Hosek-Wilkie model gives wrong results, which is attributed to the fact that it is a phenomenological model. However, in previous research, the same problem was encountered in the Preetham model as well.

Looks like a very impressive update! Especially looking forward to fur on the gpu . I have to ask though, when is the next official update planned/expected? I'm working in a production environment so we can't bother our tech support to update all Vray equipped machines every week . If it is still months away I would update to 3.20.3 but if it's just a couple of weeks we'd rather wait for the next. Thanks for all the good work and support!
