There was a request to always use progressive rendering for the IPR mode, it probably makes sense...

How can bucket mode be IPR?

So if you have chosen Progressive, it will be Progressive. If you have chosen Bucket, it will be Bucket. Most folks will likely choose the Progressive mode while working with IPR as it more easily lets you see the changes and render progress as you work.

As I explained, just set the rendering mode for Bucket and then turn on IPR...there you go!

Not as interactive as Progressive perhaps in most cases, but like I said most folks will most likely opt for Progressive mode when using IPR.

          Have fun with it,

Edit - Vlado beat me to it!

Yes! An automatic switch would be great! And if it automatically switched back when not using IPR it would be Greater!

I'm seeing very little render speed change. Nothing even close to what improvements you've got there, I'm jealous. Only seconds shaved off, not minutes. There might be something in your scene that you use that I don't, that has been improved upon greatly? I'm enjoying the IPR with simple scenes though. Understandably, it likes to bog down quite often in scenes with large amounts of geometry.

Do you render with BF/BF or BF/LC ?

                  BF/LC for most things.

Okay, I am asking just in case, and because in the CPU render most of the speed up that 3.5 gives should be expected in BF/LC setups ...

So, it is the VFB button that makes it interactive. I would have never have guessed that.

Interactive seems a bit buggy. Picking lights have crashed my scene three times, once with the below error.

The scenes I work with are mostly product shots of CAD imports, that consists of hundreds if not thousands of parts. Usually on sweeps or floating on a flat color. So not a full frame with consistent difficulty. Most materials are metals and paint, so lots of glossy reflections. I also use vrayedgestex on almost all materials to soften the hard edges you get with CAD imports, and confirmed there was a slow down using that on materials when vrayedgestex was upgraded. Not sure if that is still causing speed issues or if that has been solved.

Yes, I asked them to change the icon which I feel is too much like Max's Active Shade icon (teapot with the right-facing arrow). Seems a little confusing to me.

I proposed some new icon designs in this thread (message #29).

I sent you an email with a file and example.

Edit: it worked initially on small low res test for a bit.
