  • How to split lc calculation??

In my currenbt scene i've really a lot of objects and bitmaps, so when i lanch a region render, lc calculation will be fine... instead, if i lanch entire scene render it wil fail and max crashes. I have 2gb of ram and switch3gb already in use and i was wondering if it is possible to do 4 different lc calculation (each for a quarter of the image) and merge all togheter for final render such as irrmap

Another thing, i already switched off "show calc" in lc rollout and resolution output is 200x150

lightcache works with region render? i thought it didn't...maybe you can use render stipes network rendering then...

How many light cache subdivs do you have?

My limit right now is 600 subdv for the entire render, beyond this vaue lc will hang up and max crashes. In region render i can raise up to 1000 but in this scene i need at least 1500 cause there are many glasses and with 1000 or less subd, walls behind glasses shows clearly artifacts due to low lc subd

Yes, you can split the image in parts; with good settings for the irradiance map, the seams will probably not be that obvious.

Also, if you can send me the vraylog.txt file after you get a crash, I might be able to tell you more about the problem.

Vlado, how can I split in 4 parts?? If i render in region for each quarter of the image, lc calculation won't be exactly the same for all images and they will be visible.

I'm rendering so i can send you logfile

              logfile just sent

When max crashed, mem usage was 2,98gb

Well, yes, but if you are using irradiance map as the primary engine it may be able to smooth out the differences.

Since the problem seems to be memory related, you may want to check the troubleshooting section of the manual for tips on reducing memory usage.

i had 20 stripes on very high settings... you can see the stiches big time.
                  Is there any workaround?
