  • vray dirt vs coronaAO

Im converting a nice corona shader to vray.

    ive noticed a potential showstopper.

wear and dirt in shader are driven by corona AO

    i replaced with vraydirt

however my model uses normal mapped details

corona ao correctly adds dirt and wear in the normal mapped creases and details

vraydirt happily entirely ignores them and looks rubbish.

    is there a workaround?

if not, seems like something that should be fixed. as it is i might have to use corona for my project (not that this is a problem for you guys... what with owning them both.. but its a ballache.

you would have to apply the normal map at the end of the shader tree with a vray bump material (I believe)

its ok, i figured it out.. not sure why it works and why it is necessary, but it seems to work.

So does this mean the shader is "calculated" from ending to beginning? That's quite a weird order. I would expect the dirt map having to come after the bump?

That's Chrome. Other non-chromium based browsers work.

I'm on a nightly, but here it works straightforwardly: from the sample above, i put the normal map into the bump slot of the base shader, and reassigned it.
                  No difference in results.
Could you share a shader that didn't work?
