      Hi,
there is something that I don't understand here:
      Vray standalone: OK
plastic, what do you quote? I have lose something.
Why maya? (I'm not against )
It is just the logic devellopment for Vray.
What about the bridge betwenn 3dsmax and Vray standalone?
3dsmax interface is strong, it's cool to have a standalone soft to improve rendering, but screenshot with maya, definitely I lose something here.
      Someone could explain me?
The subject is maya or standalone?

Perhaps due to my bad english?

Both, when you have the standalone version you "only" have to make the bridge from 3dsmax, maya, xsi and what ever.

          MAC osX

Is Vray for maya (anr/or standalone) be release for MAC at the same time?! What can you guys tell us about the Mac versions at all? Since the G5s are dual-core 64 bits processors and the os is 64 as well it would be great to take some advantage of it, huh?!?!

          Thanks a lot!

The G5's arnt dual core, they just have dual CPU.
If they were dual core, dual cpu then they might really have something powerfull on their hands.

Anyway, back on track. THe standalone looks great, i would love to see some render time benchmarks!! (and im not talking about you Natty )

You are confusing the standalone with the Maya version. If you want to render with the standalone, you *will* lose all plugins. However, the Maya version renders inside Maya itself, so support for (some of) the native Maya features is provided.

This looks fantastic Vlado and Peter.
Its good to know that the 64bit version is being worked on, now any new workstations or render node purchases will definately be 64bit!

                  Keep up the great work

well that post about apple and intel is funny. if apple thinks it will actually be able to have a computer with power they sure are mistaken according to their track record. the G5 was a joke. the opteron systems were out performing them not only that they had a press conference saying they had the 1st 64bit desktop on the marker. (when in reality, and they were told this during the conference by a reporter, the opteron was on the market as a DUAL machine a couple months before offered by boxx hehe) poor apple. ah well. gotta give them points for trying

Do you mean mircopoly nurbs rendering like renderman? Vray already supports it for SubD, as well as displacement, so maybe at some point they will, unless they already have it and have not told us.

Yes. Currently, we do support trimmed NURBS but they are tesselated to static geometry. The next step would be to add support for dynamic geometry, as with the subdivision surfaces.

Sorry DaForce, but if you had read a bit more before posting would know the G5s are, in fact, dual core every single one of them, dual or single processors... About the little silly fight PC/MACs users, I don't really care a bit so please, ignore me when posting stuff about it (that's for you too, priad). Of course Apple would end up creating an OS for x86 processors, one needs to be blind not to see it or you think that Microsoft had Apple's shares for nothing?. I do own one mac and was asking about a mac version out of curiosity, but I'll probably acquire a PC before Vray comes out for Mac anyways.

                              Cheers.

I find nothing on apples website that states that their Power Mac G5 system is more then just a dual processor system. Please post some viable info that says they are BOTH dual processor AND dual core...
