            • I'm very excited about our new machines. I just bought three of these bad boys for my company.

RenderBOXX Dual Opteron 270, Dual Core, 2GB RAM

Here are my results with one of them. Yay!

                • Yeah, running XP64 on four machines now. It's a beautiful thing. It would be even more beautiful if everyone made drivers for it.

                  • final result.

For those of you that are interested Here is my final result with the 265's.
I am posting this because it is completely stable, and recommended as a setup for the rest of you.

I've tried 4 different Mobo's in the last month, which has been a trying process to say the least. I've tested them both overclocked and not and the times have gone up and down like a YOYO (see prev posts). Anyway the result is that here in the UK at least the 265's represent an extremely cost-effective solution when running OC'd on the appropriate board.

The MSI K8N Master2-FAR board is without a doubt the one to get as this is by far the fastest and most stable I tested.
I have built 5 machines around this board now and they have all run faultlessly OC'd to 2179MHZ for over a month now. I have used them as workstations intensively, and for rendering. Im very happy and wanted to share the results of my wranglings and endless RMA's with the rest of ya!!

For the record I found the Asus K8N board to be slow in the extreme when running in normal memory mode - avoid (in my opinion).
                    best to all!

                      • Nice time, but what do you mean by optimized?
Did you change the scene at all?

                        Comment

                        • i would think that means yes he adjusted render settings... *slaps wrist. If thats the case, please delete your post. This is a hardware benchmark thread, not a adjust my scene thread.

                          • Exactly... its not a "change the settings to get a faster render" thread.

Its to benchmark hardware, therefore using the same vray version (1.47.03) and the same unmodified scene is essential.

Anything else is pointless in this thread.

                              • hoooly cow, syclone.

What's the price per mhz, though, i wonder.
I am myself about to upgrade with somewhat limited funds, and i can't honestly find a way out of single socket, dual core amds.
