Wow, that's almost identical to the Xeon 5160 (2.66GHz). For pricing, the Xeons are a little better. When I specced out machines 2 weeks ago I would have had to go with the Opteron 275 to match price.

Max9 64-bit + Vray 1.5 RC3 seems about 5 secs. faster than Max8 +1.5 RC2

Ok here is our INTEL QuadCore 5320 @ 1.86 GHz

the scene is the 1.5 corrected scene (with the subpixel corrections). I am not sure when these babies are supposed to hit the market, but this one is definitely sweet.

again - 8 cores in total (2 x 4cores) running at only 1.86GHz

ok my appologies the scene was not properly set to be rendered at 8 cores, here is an update (light cache threads was set to 4 - now its changed to 8 hense the difference)

You can order the quads now from a couple companies now with delivery around 12/05. How much ram does your machine have?

Of course it makes me wonder if the 2.66 dual quad can go under a minute.

I would hope so but not thinking it will, judging by the numbers, my guess would be around 1 minute 8 seconds
