Vray 7 embree static ray caster error

I getting this whenever I try to use v-ray 7, CPU and GPU version

[15:56:30.980] Error : Error building Embree static ray caster, error message: [CommitEmbreeThread::threadProc] 1: Committing scene failed

[15:56:31.164] Error : 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

It happens wenever I add some geometry to the scene, for example a scene with one light renders fine, but when I try to add a box or sphere the render stops and shows this error

v-ray 6 works fine

Hello,

Do you run the V-Ray 7 installation through some script or some other automated way ? In general we've seen this error on machines with quite old Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. By default V-Ray installation installs the required version and everything should work correctly.
Can you try reinstalling V-Ray ?

Hi,

I have reinstalled V-Ray on both 3ds Max 2024 and 2025, but unfortunately, the issue persists. No automation scripts were used during the installation. I’ve ensured that all drivers, Windows updates, and 3ds Max itself are updated to their latest versions.

Let me know if there’s anything else I should try.

Hm after installing V-Ray the redistributable is located in Program Files\Chaos\V-Ray\3ds Max 2025\utils - vc_redist.x64.exe - can you try installing it manually. Also try restarting the computer altogether.
