  • exception on amd4400+ dual core

I just started to render animation and everything worked fine but when I pluged my brand new amd4400+ dual core I get exceptions but only on that machine. Every 5-15 images I get this exception and backburner server restarts on that machine and continues to render. I can survive that even it takes long time to reload textures and start render again but when I use DR to render single rendering this machine gets exception and it ruins complete render with lots of unfinished buckets all over the rendering.

I know this stinks on memory problems or 3GB switch but 3gb switch is ok and I used memtest to test memory overnight and there is no memory errors.

    I use max 6 and vray 1.47.03

Have you tried monitoring the CPU temperature? Also, which 3dsmax version? Do you have the bitmap pager turned on?

    Best regards,

and since this is a new machine do you have all the same plugins and their versions installed on the new box? Ive had that happen when 1 plugin was installed with a previous version from the rest of the farm.

The plugins are ok, I tried with bitmap pager and few hours the rendering works fine.
It would be a good idea to make first topic that will allways be first in General index about all main reasons why exceptions happens ( 3gb Switch, Bitmap pager, checking memory....) and I think nobody would ask questions about it anymore, offcourse if Vray itselve isnt a problem.

        Thanks

I know there used to be an "exception causes" list in the online manual... and I thought there was a sticky one on the forum also?

I thought I was lucky but still I get exceptions on that same machine. Where do I check cpu temperature and what can I do about it.

I have one more problem with other machine. One of them cant see location of ir map and when I render it i have dark buckets where that machine was rendering in DR.

What is the reason of that becouse all other machines see Ir map and its not network problem becouse it seas 3d model and all textures except precalculated irmap.

Could this be related to the dual Xeon+hyperthreading issues in earlier versions of VRay ????????

I'm aware that the AMD X2 doesn't use hyperthreading, but this behaviour on dual processor systems sounds very familiar to me.......

Actually this is one procesor with dual core, but that doesnt change things.
I doubt the temperature of procesor is the problem Becouse I have 200$ Thermaltake case and excelent fans to cool it.
Where do I download some free software so I can check temperature while rendering.

Do you have the same problems when rendering the scene with the 3dsMAX-scanline renderer ?

if not, then it definitly is NOT a cpu temperature problem.

I have downloaded program and this is resoult while rendering. I dont know what temperature is ok but I think I dont have temperature problems with that machine.
In the background you can see exception which I get every 5-15 renderings but the problem is when I use this machine in DR for large formats renderings it screws up my whole render and other 5 machines work is distroyed becouse of it.

So I have 3gb switch, memtest is ok, I think temperature is ok, bitmap pager turned on, what else can I do and where is the problem.
By the way I have sean next to the bitmap pager settings that Multi threading is on but thats 3dsmax default settings.

I have even bigger problem now. I have just run animation in ram player and I get flickering. It happens that this new machine which gives me problems renders slightly darker renderings.
                            Something is definitly wierd here.
I have 3 dual AMD MP machines and one dual Opteron 246 and now this new AMD 4400+ dual core machine. All other machines are rendering with no problems.
Please help I have ongoing project and short deadline.

with speedfan, goto there website and download the correct configuration for your motherboard then you will be able to see correct temps.
have you downloaded the amd x2 driver for windows so both cores run correctly.
