They are working on fR for Cinema 4D and Maya. We are testers for the C4D here at work. Looks pretty good I guess but I would definitely prefer Vray to be sure.

Yes, can you disclose whether vray will be integrated into the quickdraw render region for xsi? Also, will it be built into the pass system? That would be so cool
It's hard to put it like that, but in my opinion it's like a very good blend of Max and Maya (maybe a litle more Max than Maya, as far as convenience is concerned). Particles still suck.
Vray is the only reason I still use Max, otherwise I'd be using XSI much more heavily (for anything but archViz, where Max is still unrivaled).
Put it this way, I'm lucky enough to be a user of XSI, MAX, Lightwave and Modo, if I could only keep one program, it would be XSI without a second thought. Although I would REALLY miss Vray if it were still MAX only.
It's hard to explain why, but everything just seems so much more integrated and standardised throught the workflow, and everything talks to everything else. I would rate MAX better at architectural modelling (no surprise given it's parent company), but I would rate XSI better for most other kinds of modelling. Especially with 3rd-party renderers like Vray, I would say MAX shaves it with simple "all in one take" rendering, but if you go for multi pass rendering or complex materials, XSI IMHO is miles ahead.
But then again, I took to XSI like a duck to water, but at the same time it took a couple years before I felt comfortable in MAX. Other people might find the opposite.
I agree....i bought XSI at siggraph a couple years ago or home and i would use it way more often if i could render with Vray....i know mental ray is a great renderer and all...but i hate using it!!!
just to jump in line....i would gladly test out an XSI plugin as well!!!
would there be any major promblems implementing vray in xsi with its render tree? its a lot different to max (on the surface at least) or is it no more of an issues than implementing other parts of vray?
