When are we going to see vray 1.47.0(x>3)

Ok lets say you have 3 licenses and you have a network server running it. It has a dongle. Now you want to buy an additional 3 licenses. Do you need a new dongle, or do you need to email in a new auth code?

The dongle is a GREAT idea!!
Will make moving licences a very simple task indeed.
But in no way will this stop vray for being pirated, it will only slow it for awhile. sad but true

I seem to remember Autodesk having a lot of problems with dongles breaking back in the pre-r14 days, and having excessive wait-times for a replacement. It meant a lot of missed deadlines, and I wonder(hope) if this technology has changed since the last time I came across it.

If it is something like http://www.rockey.com.my/prod_dongle_rockey6.htm it would be flexible enough to add licenses, and hopefully a little more stable than the older generations of dongles.

I'm all for a dongle if it will help stop the 3rd world piracy and dirt cheap rates we have to compete against. But, I wonder how long before it is cracked just like the rest.

I thought they had built into vray a problem with flashing on animations if you tried to use an illegal version?

...The main reason we are switching to dongles is that will make porting of licenses a lot easier. Also, there will be no delay for email exchange in case you need to reinstall your machine because of hardware failures etc...

I have been using dongles for the last 20 years, and when seeing all available licensing systems, dongles are still the best. I have about 10 of them and they all operate flawlessly...

What happens with broken dongles?
In Architectural business ,waiting more then 3 days for a replacement of a broken dongle can be the complete way out of business - Architects don't understand when you tell them you can't work , because your software isn't working. (i know what i'm talking about!)

When Chaos is doing this step, then i hope they have done the homework and built up a network of local distributers. ... or will we get replacement dongles from Bulgaria?

Hopefully you will be able to get your dongle from the distributor nearest to you - which has a part in why the set-up process has taken so long now. Further on, there will be a back-up system to allow you to work for a limited time in case something happens to your dongle.

I have been working with FormZ and Electricimage USB dougles for awhile, and they work very well.

They can be hot swapped accross machines, and follow software upgrades without problems (no-reuthorization, etc.)

Of course, you need to remember that those little thingies are actually worth it the whole software amount, so you can put in your pocket thousands dollar in software licenses...

They suggest to insure them, which you should.

I wish MAX would follow and adopt an hardware dougle...This is one reason I did not upgrade my workstation yet...Too busy to risk problem or delays with re-authorization and license transfers...

im not sure where i would need to get my dongle from since im in barbados and have no idea where the nearest distributer is. i boughtvray back when it 1st came out over the internet and not through a dealer
