  • Redviewer 1.4 The interactive viewport with VRay 1.5 support

    Hello,

I'm pleased to announce that the new release of Redviewer is available in beta version.

Redviewer 1.4 is a plug-in for Autodesk 3ds Max that displays a high quality pre-visualization of your work right into any of the 3ds Max viewports.
Redviewer offers real-time per-pixel lighting & shadow maps, complex materials and maps support (falloff, blend, mask, mix, ...), true interactive ray-traced soft shadows and reflections, and more !!
Redviewer now includes support for VRay 1.5 features like VRayPhysicalCam, VRaySun/Sky, VRayMtl, ....

To be sure to best suit the requirements of the VRay users community, we've decided to launch an open beta program for Redviewer 1.4. So, feel free to come visit us at www.redway3d.com/2.0/pages/downloads.php to download your version of Redviewer 1.4 and to post all your remarks on our forum ( www.redway3d.com/forum/index.php ).

Thanks to everyone for your help and support.

    Best regards,

    Matthieu

PS: Big thanks to Vlado for his unvaluable help

Support.... So we can see realtime preview of a sun/sky system inside max ?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Yes Paul, you can get a real time preview of your VRaySky map. For the VRaySun, a directional light is created to approximate its effect and shadow maps are casted.

3ds Max 9 support is on the way (in fact, it is quite near to be finished) but 64 bits support will be available later.

What about camera ? Is ISO speed etc affectin' sky brightness ?

P.S. Too bad, it's only for x32 now...

We tried to best match the behavior of the VRayPhysicalCam/VraySky/VRaySun triplet. Almost every parameter of the VRayPhysicalCamera is taken into account to produce the previz.
ISO, vignetting, shutter speed are all supported.

64 bits support is just a matter of time. If most of you are working under 64 bits environments, it will be a good idea to inform us (as 64 bits port of Redviewer could become a #1 priority.)

P.S. Any examples of this beauty ? Videos etc.

I saw the link on CGTalk last week, skeptically downloaded the demo, and was rather surprised with how well it worked. I'm still not on 1.5 yet, so I can't speak to the physCam/sun/sky working, and the reflections were acting kind of weird, but overall better than anything else like it I've ever seen.

                      this looks interesting.
I would love a build for 64bit max 9 and a few others would to. Maybe you should think about making it priority number 1?

What kind of update speeds can you get on this?

I'd like to give it a try but my home pc isnt working at the moment. Incredibly curious, because I dont understand how it works in the slightest.
