Yeah. They were detached; not sure it'd recognize the open edges otherwise without having to select them. You could use a Multi/Sub mat but it would probably be more work than it was worth.

I am not getting the desired results. I put my gradient texture in the diffused slot of my vray material, which allowed me to apply it to the element. What controls the spread of the mix?Bobby Parker

Hey. I think I might have something working with 2D displacement; using another material from the previously referenced site - MapLayers. Something to play with anyways.
- It's a single Plane object
- no UVW mapping coordinates
- 3 materials controlled through a VrayBlendMat, masks and tiling
- 2 displacement maps are controlled using MapLayers, masks, tiling and RGB values for the heights

For really large areas of displacement I'd much rather use 2D over 3D. I have an old project that I'd like to update using Vray and using 3D displacement is possible, but 2D would probably save me some time/RAM.
I'll have to try the 2D version on a larger mesh area and see what happens.
