Which GI engine did you use?
In any case, take a look here:
http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...lights.htm#ex7
As you can see, the final result is a combination of direct lighting and GI.

For your coments i supposed the vraylightMat works like vrayLight does.
Can i get only direct light with vrayLightMat if i disable GI?

I would test myself, but it may be a week or two before I get SP3 installed due to workload.Ben Steinert

from the online help:
The direct illumination options currently only work properly if the VRayLightMtl material is the only material applied on the object. They will not work if the material is part of a complex material like a Multi/sub-object material or a VRayBlendMtl material. This restriction will probably be removed in a future release.Alessandro

I bring up this thread to post a problem with vraylightMtl direct illumination option.
In the attached image you can see the same plane, the first with vraylightmtl direct illumination ON and the second with a vraylight with mesh option enabled appiled.
The first doesn't cast any shadow and direct illumination
The vraylightmtl isn't part of MultiSubObject.
Theorically there shouldn't be differences.
What's wrong?
Thanks in advance
