  • Vray environment fog - Using non atmospheric gizmos as gizmos for the fog effect

I thought I managed to do this once but I cant seem to get this to work now...is this actually possible or did I just dream it ?

Basically I have a land mass that undulates and I want some ground fog to rise and fall with the undulations of the land. I created a low poly version of the land and applied a shell mod to it to create some volume for the fog. I then turned off the rendering for this object but selected it to use as a gizmo for the vray env fog...didnt work though !

Did you check the normals on the shell object? Does it work for other objects?

    Best regards,

I have used geometry as a gizmo and it works perfectly.

Steve one thing to check is the "fog height" make sure the value is high enough to cover the top of the geometry gizmo

shouldnt fog height be ignored when using a gizmo? or has that changed? or has it always been like that??

The fog height is ignored when using gizmos.

            Vlado,
Could the fog height be greyed out if a gizmo is used?

Works for me, but if you have a scene where it does not, please send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com - there might be something else there.

                        great!

I just managed to get it to 'work' (break) by turning on/off DR. Without DR it worked fine, turning DR on broke it straight away.
