Shade MAP - Correct usage

I'm sorry peter but probably I didn't understand very well your previous images.
The first is normal render without DOF...19 min ...ok
The second with DOF 27 min... ok
The third DOF with shademap 45sec and the fourth the shademap calculation 19min.
If I understood you set the shademap....click render and after 19min(shademap calc)+45sec (shademap applied) you have the DOF version... is it right??
The image after the shademap calculation is very different from the normal version... why?? It seems without any exposure control and vraycamera effect like vignetting...

tested on a little scene... just to understand how it works... and it's very impressive...
Now I test it on a more complex scene...
EDIT: tested on a more complex scene.
DOF without shademap -> 37'15" 2277"
Shademap creation ->28'15" 1695"
DOF with shademap -> 2'47" 167"
Total ------------------> 31'02" 1862"
It's seems that it's possible to save a 20% in rendertime.
All tested without DR.Last edited by bardo; 20-08-2012, 01:44 AM.

This would certainly make the Shademap complete as currently the no DR limitations when creating the shademap means it just can't be used EVERYWHERE like it should be.
Thanks for your time

We need to do it anyway for the deep images support, so we'll definitely look into it and it will get into the nightly builds soon. Whether it will go into the next official service pack, I do not know yet (depends on the amount of changes required).

You need to email is us to vray@chaosgroup.com; however keep in mind that we do not recommend using the nightly builds in production, as things may break as we work on them. Still, it would be helpful to get some feedback

vlado, is it difficult to have the nightly builds as another vray version??
I explain myself:
As you remind us the nightly builds are not production ready, but I suppose that most of us could be interested to test it, probably for just an added feature.
So I think it could be good to have the choice from the 2 versions (vray official 2.3 and the nightly build) as production renderer so for the daily jobs we use vray 2.3 and for testing we could switch on-the-fly to the nightly build with uninstall/install/uninstall/install for every test.
If it's already like this I'm interested me too to use nightly builds.
Thanks in advance
