Some very cool tests there indeed.

      Thanks Michael.

Do you have any plans on releasing your procedural maps for max? Please? hahah
Bercon will have to do for now

Yep Ive been reworking them an adding lots of fun controls. Just need to find the time to polish it all up.
Having a one year old seems to somehow get in the way...

But seriously, yes id like to get them out the door soon.

I will second the need for a decent dichroic glass type material.
Its a very tricky type of glass to get looking right and even harder to match the physical properties with the glass refracting one colour and then reflecting a completely different colour!
I have a whole bunch of reference photos if you want to take a crack

            Fire the reference away!
I've been experimenting with RGB IOR differences.

some kind of ice, mineral shader / with veins and that volumetric feel
+1 for sand and those tricky coated glasses

I have been developing an ice shader for the past year or so at Electric Art.
It's become pretty complex and when combined with multiscatter can simulate icicles and fracture lines. here is the last "test render" of the shader but this is quite old and outdated. Will get something up showing where it's at asap.

That ice is looking damn nice! Had to do something similar for a job some time ago, and mine didn't look as good as yours. Great, really.

Was the typo done in combination with multiscatter? If so, what did you scatter inside the letters?

                      Cheers,

This was one of the first tests using volumes inside the object and like I said, it was pretty early days. That example is actually using Vray fur and a simple vray light material inside the volume. The exterior was also completely texture mapped and I've solved most of that procedurally now.

Just an update on another shader I've refined over time. That typical oldschool bronze everyone tries to recreate.
Its 100% procedural apart from 1 map inside the blend between the two materials and even that usually just works with a baked occlusion map from the render texture dialogue box.

Nice materials, thanks for info regarding Ice one! We are in studio just doing a portfolio shoot for fun with crystals and that hint was nice info to have!

As to shaders that bronze one... man 1h20min to render?!

Wow that some sampling you have there

rendering on a single machine with high settings... If any of these examples take longer than 10 minutes to render on the farm at work I optimise.
Happy to help with the hint, Ice can be taken a lot further than that though and you will see over the week.
