I've thought about it, of course and it might happen later on. However renaming stuff in 3ds Max is not easy... lots of scripts and stuff already rely on the "VRayHDRI" name.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Alias in mxs, without changing class name, and just a different display name?

I don't think we should hold back advance in name of old habits.
Some techniques can be found to help accommodate more easily the change (progress) as Lele stated, but still, if it isn't feasible , then we will have to live with it.

Personally I remembered the switch from QMC to BF, watch in hand it took me between 12h and 36h to be accommodated: done! Big deal?
Even if it was, well I would have lived with it. Why? Because it's my job and this implies that I have to accommodate to the market. Sometimes it's with the clients, sometimes with my work hours or the price, and yes sometimes with the software I use to do my job, it seems so logical for me.
Live in the past and kiss goodbye your future...

To keep things sort, I'm for evolution and you're big part of it Vlado.
I much rather you spend time to make us awesome new features than thinking about UI cluttering or equivalent

A new VrayBitmap as spinoff from VrayHDRI while leaving VrayHDRI as legacy would do.

Whenever I get to 6-9 months of 14 hour or more days and nights and weekends I start saying I am going to buy a big red diesel dump truck, and make that my job.

Been over a decade since I brewed any beer. May be time to start that back up It's a little cold here right now to brew ale in the basement, though, and I am not much of a lager guy.

I got it! Render Farm Ale... Use some of the heat from the server room to get the ale to ferment properly!

However, because the widely used mip-map/pyramidal filtering is far from ideal, people use the value to make their textures appear sharper. Elliptical filtering to a large extent solves this issue.
                    Thanks Vlado.
Can elliptical filtering be applied globally to every bitmap? This way we wouldn't need to change the blur value or use a VrayHDRI map.

Two things to note about Elliptical, other than how good it looks:

                      A) It does not (at least yet) work with displacement.

                      B) There are sometimes nasty artifacts using big maps at small sizes: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...n-small-render
