    I think what happened is when the blend material was written, it didn't have full maxscript access originally so the options had to be kind of stuck on, the dup slots are a side effect of this, don't worry about them aside from untidiness.

      The complex fresnel I'm using is the free plugin from Siger. Works quite well and easy to set up. Just pop it in the reflection slot and disable fresnel on the mat.
