Do you guys remember chrysler, that shared their meshed cad models with community ? I have 'em, if that will help to profile rt for a better experience.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Yeh I don't have those either, it would be great for test scenes like this if we could organise some kind of download link

These models are long gone. They were provided in 2008, long time ago. If someone still has them, an upload is highly welcome.

Simply put moving a light in VrayRT is too slow... and light boards... too slow... changing materials and light values is fast enough.

Yes, we found that out; we do have special optimizations to handle these cases, but apparently we are also updating a lot of other stuff unnecessarily in that case. Will fix it.

Does it help to send another scene?

Yeah, lights are obvious but we often use texture light boards, planes with VrayLightMtls on or VRay Materials for just bounce boards... these are often visible to camera off... some way to identify these as 'lights' might be useful for VrayRT to not rebuild the entire geometry.

"The fact that you're looking at a render never quite escapes you, because the lighting and reflections off the cars just doesn't shine like it does in real life."
"Great" is highly subjective a quality.
Some of the corners cut for realtime are just too big to pass the usual scrutiny a place like this forum subjects images to, not to mention the usual makers' paranoia about fidelity.
I wouldn't panic just yet (i have worked at RTT in Munich, and at Macke for a brief stint years ago. Just so we know i'm not para-dropping unto the subject out of nowhere.)...
VR has its uses, and will grow by leaps and bounds, but it's not the one solution to all problems.

I told them already. Will place some cards with gradients and the like in the next scenes.

Yes, I got them. Thanks! Will be very useful to debug what's going on.

One thing I would like to add is often times Maya crashes when I press the stop button to stop RT...This happened more often to me than in the middle of RT while tweaking lights/materials attributes. The workaround is I'll save the scene before I stop the RT session.
                                always curious...
