  • Brute Force Light Cache issue

When using BF/LC, my V-Ray Frame Buffer builds the Light Cache and then begins to render with no issues. I can see the overall image brightness fairly well as it renders.

However, my client is having an issue where we have the same settings, but after the initial LC begins to build, the Frame Buffer goes black until its rendered out. What is happening?

Are you sure you are both using the same version of V-Ray? There is a prepass that happened on the second image and it caused the light cache preview to be overwritten.

The only thing that I can think of is if you have a fastsss2 material in the scene - it switches from prepass-based to raytraced mode in newer builds.

No, just standard VrayMtl in the scene. The issue only happens with BF/LC in Adaptive mode. If we switch to IR/LC Adaptive, or use BF/LC in Progressive, it doesn't happen.

Open the vraylog.txt file and search for a line that says "Registering reflection interpolation map..." or "Registering refraction interpolation map..." or "Registering SSS prepass illumination map..." - do you find anything? Or alternatively, just post the two log files here from both machines so that I can compare them.

            Best regards,
            Vlado
