Well well, there are 70 people on the floor using Vray Int builds here, plus 200 bi xeon / Atlhon for the farm. And it's a matter of fact that we decided to use Vray because of its lovely logo.

In our specific case, starting Myst with finalrender in 2002 would have been a supa-joke.

Use what you want as long as you want, that's the democracy of rendering.

Well, anyways, you are not here to argue about anything I guess.

/me likes PRMan and renderman-compatible renderers. For arbitrary output variables, for easy programmable shading, for interplatform support, for extremely fast motion blur and DoF, for it's subdivision surfaces, for render-time CSG, _very_ easy network rendering, and for many other things.

And dislikes it's for crappy shadows, slow raytracing and awkward GI.

Just being grumpy, and getting tired of constant negativity and whining... It seems that no matter what happes you always find something new to complaing about. Do you like anything about 1.45.70 at all? If VRay is so terrible for your use, why are you still using it?

It´s like americans complain when you critizise their great nation.

No it´s not ALL bad, but its not ALL good either.

I have not used 1.47.x yet.
We don´t change versions in the middle of a project.

You get tired of the negativ critics, i get tired of only positiv feedback of some fanboys, ignoring the flaws.

But i don´t say or think you have to shut up!

damn it man!! ......I think we ALL got you point/complains here...they are ALL OVER the forums!......why can't you focus on the positive issues now??

OFF COURSE "it´s not ALL bad, but its not ALL good either."
that's w/ EVERY software package you use...whether it's Microsoft Word...or the most complex software around!!!!

I don't like to feed this discussion...but I'm REALLY getting tired of reading your constant, repeated negative stabs at this...as people are only trying to make it better.
Since you complain so much, and seem to see only negative things about vray, maybe it has come to a point for you and/or your company to move on and choose a different render.
Because this seems to be frustrationg for you (w/ all the negative things you point out) and it definatly is frustrating for most of us that are simply trying to learn, contribute and help make vray better.

maybe it's time for ya to switch to a different software, since you can't seem to see anything positive......just a thought.

Of course it's not ALL good, and criticism (preferably constructive) is needed to push a company and their product forward. However, there is a difference between criticism and constant whining. From your posts lately I feel you've moved into the latter category. The problem is that whining tends to get tedious, and after a while people begin ignoring it, or blow up like I do and start whining about the whining. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't have a problem with your opinion, but with the way you choose to present it.

And I don't ignore the flaws either. I can't afford to as I do 3D for a living, and working with flawed software doesn't keep me competitive. Getting flaws (bugs, shortcomings) fixed fast, and keeping the product I've chosen to invest my time and money in competitive is crucial to my business. I've had plenty of problems with previous VRay versions, but I talk to Chaos about them and whenever possible the issues are dealt with very speedily. I guess this amazing service from Peter and Vlado (and I'm not the only one, just listen to what others are saying) is what is making me a little too protective.

In conclusion: the way you choose to present your criticisms clearly isn't working very well for you, is it? Maybe time to be a little more positive and constructive? Please? ...flies, honey, vinegar etc.

                            Long John, better be quiet!
The forum is ruled by the "Fanboys" who can not accept postings like yours.

                            Wait like the quiet majority.

Am I just imagining this or did you bring that up again? Are you so bitter? I find it strange that you even bring something like this up in a forum of this nature. Do you get a thrill from hassling everyone you see on the street during the course of a Long John day or just any Americans?

About two years ago I traveled from one side of the US to the other and up and down one coast. I have to agree with you it is a great nation
