So i made a mockup for the dark version of the log window. I will make for the vraylight later today or tomorrow morning...

Left is current one, middle is my proposal for colored version, and right for a more integrated and less distracting version.. Also i matched 3dsmax 2017 colors... But more blueish or orangish looks good too.

Nice, hope this can be added

My 2 cents would be don't underestimate the value of fixing small annoying things, IMO that push from Autodesk was the best thing they've done for years. Take for instance something really small, like when you go to add a bitmap to the VrayHDRI map, and the thumbnail preview defaults to 'on' thus wasting me 10 seconds as I sit there waiting to see a 500mb HDRI preview. It may seem inconsequential, but when it happens a few times a week it makes me swear out loud!

I definitely agree, for example when in editable poly if you want to go to vertex mode you press 1, edge 2, elements 5, etc. But if you want to go out you couldn't press it again and that annoyed me SO much... And in 2016 they changed it, so it turns on and off when pressing the same key.. and that accelerated my workflow so much, and they didn't even mention this change in their detailed release notes.

        • Actually had some free time and made the VrayLight changes i was talking about. What do you guys think? Trying to make it more compact, and focus on the most commonly used parameters.

WHy dont u just stop and go on with it or go and use Corona for gods sake if its so simple.
You're missing the whole point of the thread in my opinion.
If anyone is posting here is because they want to stick only with vray and really hope to have some functionality as other good render engines out there.
I don't think anyone here is trying to prove that corona is better. It's not. And nobody thinking it is would waste time on posting here.
But there's definitely something good about corona that would be nice to copy in vray if possible.

              Loads better

Probably getting way OT, Vlado (or anyone) is it possible to set our own defaults for certain vray things? Default Vraylight settings for example.

              • I just tried corona for a few minutes to compare.
The interactive functionality is way better in corona. And no setup required. Easy.
And the way it shows the image in interactive mode: all at once, not in buckets. It's truly real time.
Just having the "start interactive" button is so nice.
I still think the type of noise that Vray uses in RT is blotchy compared to corona.

                • I went watching Corona's interactive rendering feature video and was quite blown away by the fact that it doesn't break a sweat when there are billions of polygon in viewport AND interactive rendering window. Reminds me of Clarisse's interactive rendering...

Based on Vlado's comment on another thread, interactive rendering is harder to achieve for Max due to its API, but I'll be really happy if we get the same performance seen in Corona's demo video for Maya and Max. The update usually kicks in in a second or and I kinda like the progressive refinement noise looks (different from Vray and don't know how to describe it)...

Anyway, really look forward to Vray's CPU interactive standard rendering.

                  • Thanks for the UI suggestions guys! Definitely some good ideas there. Will see what can be done about those things.

                    Best regards,

Hey Mitviz, don't quite get your comment. Would you elaborate a bit more? I haven't tried Corona, nor Clarisse yet. But I am confident that Vray will get there, in terms for interactive rendering, sooner or later.

Not really a no no, but generally if I'd go to another renderer's forum and say - hey guys, vray is better, it feels good to work in it - don't expect a positive reaction there either...
