Public recording isn't allowed, but I'll try and beg Joep for at least an audio recording for later summation, if not transcript...

Wow, that is actually very generous of you to let V-Ray 3.x have such a long lifetime. Bravo!

So here is a shot I did some years ago for the Costco company. I have always called it the "poster child for noise", what with all the space for light to bounce all around the inside of the boxes against and through glossy reflective, glossy refractive, and semi-transparent multi-layered shampoo bottles. The noise in the shot is more than obvious and pretty much everywhere.

Rendering normally I would have to crank everything up pretty high to resolve the noise and on my current machine (Intel 5960x) the final render took around 27 minutes. This shot as you can see, using V-Ray defaults, took a paltry 3:48.

So now here is the same shot - Denoised!

Looks pretty dang good, and what - at 1/7 of the rendering time? Wow.

Sure, if you zoom in there are artifacts, so for a final I would crank sampling up a bit, but the potential here for saving a whole lot of time is obvious. Heck, by the time you do all your (very fast!) itinerant drafts you'll have the perfect settings down and away you go for the deliverable. Just fantastic stuff...

Hey, it took me 3 minutes to render, including Denoiser time, a job at 2,000 HDTV. I know you want to see samples, but this one I can't put on the forum. But needless to say, it denoised nicely!

Looking forward to this update - thanks.

Would it be too much to ask Chaos to improve the download speeds of these updates?

It is going to take over 4 hours to download a 236mb file! By comparison, the latest Forest Pack beta downloaded in 5 minutes and is twice the size.

There is nothing that we can do about it right now, unfortunately. The server is overloaded even with all the mirrors that we have. For the future, a solution could be to upload the builds on a cloud service.

If you continue to have issues, email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com and I'll find a way to get you a download.

                          Best regards,
                          Vlado
