I have a feeling this is a stupid question, but I gotta ask. Why do my prepasses render with buckets even though I've set my image sampler to progressive?

Hello,
If you are using progressive and BF+BF and still see bucket prepasses - maybe you have some prepass based SSS2 materials or VRayMtls with interpolated reflection/refraction. V-Ray should write a line in the log file for every such material - that should help find it.

So I have not been able to identify the material, but the scene renders without buckets if I use an override clay material.
I can not see any lines in the log files that would give any hint, unless standard materials are the issue? I usually check the interpolate option when converting imported scenes from Revit. I do have the following green warnings:
Camera matrix is not orthonormal and 'Max-compatible ShadeContext' is ON
Standard materials and lights may shade incorrectly
But I feel I always have these two, what is the first one about?

Looked into this a little closer and unchecked 'Shade context in camera space' (what does this do?) and both warning messages disappeared.
However, I still get buckets in the prepass. Can it have something to do with vrmesh? It also says it found 306 opaque, 272 double-sided instances?

I am facing the exact same problem and the prepass as it take huge amount of time (estimated time is + 13 hours ) Is there any way to find All SSS2 materials in the scene quickly ?! (script for example )

I am surprised how bad of a resource hog sss2 is. I had a scene that just sat there, without budging, because a candle that was using it.

Well, that's why I wanted the SSS2 material to automatically switch to raytraced mode in newer builds, in this way there are no problems like that... but someone complained, of course I think we will revert back to raytraced SSS2 by default. It makes things so much easier.
