i never used it but always just heard about it, what do you mean it masks each layer? what if its an interior with many elements? it creates a color map for each object you can use as a mask?

It saves a 32bit PSD with all the elements and all your layers are masked. So, let's say all your exterior glass is on the glass layer. In PS you would ctrl+click the glass layer and you will get the dancing ants around all the glass. If you go into one of my models you'll see a dozen + of these PS layers. Anything, at any time, I can select everything on a layer with a ctrl+click.

When you are saving PSD layers/channels for use as selections then these don't take up much file space because they lend themselfs perfectly for image compression. So you can have large numbers of these special purpose layers and will not make much of a difference in terms of PSD file size. So the actual number of PSD layers is not what is relevant in terms of file size - the image content is.

People who don't use it question needing it. Those who have it couldn't live without it.

kool, anything that makes the job easier and gets it done is worth it in my opinion, if psd manager works then sounds like something i should have, it might force me to start getting strict about naming conventions, which usually are i start naming a few layers i get bored and start writing things like, "layer idk what to do with", "maybe i should not use" , "use these in the next version" haha, sometimes

Do Cebas ever have campaigns on this? I'm sure it is worth it but I find the price a bit steep.

There are other uses, but I use it mainly for layers. Here is a video they have posted on their site.

If you consequently name VRay elements with the associated Object/Material ID's, PSD Manager just works in the background creating a multilayered PSD with all anti-aliased selection channels....something I wouldn't want to live without anymore

I have reinstalled MAX 2017 and I can't find my Beta link, help! It is one plug-in that I can't work without.

If something in the forum was not answered then it is just because that person also contacted me or Cebas via other channels (usually via email). For example Bobby asked for a 2017 version earlier this year while he already had access to a Beta vesrion (which he can not share) and so I sent him sensitive information via email.

In general there is not much traffic on the cebas forum because I do ususally answer questions via email or here. A problem with smaller plugins is always that there is not that much to discuss if things just work. So not many users will go there regularry unless they have an issue to solve. So in the end it is usually me answering questions anyway and not users among each other. So not much traffic over there is actually a good thing.

To answer the central question. A new psd-manager version that will also support 3ds max 2017 is in the works since a while and will be available later this quarter. There will be new stuff besides 2017 support that I hope you will enjoy (so not a free update this time). Sorry for making you wait.

                              Best Regards,
