I don't remember this being so in the Beta but in the official version of Vray Next the bump slot is now at the very top of the list in Maps rollout. See attached below. Any reason for this change? I liked it better when Diffuse was the first slot there. Now every time I look at my maps, I always think that I've decreased the Diffuse to 30.

I`ve noticed this too, not sure if it`s intentional or not. Please bring it back back down where it was.Noemotion.net - www.noemotion.net

Hi Margarita,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite sure though if I understand what you mean by that. Are you saying that with this new change it's easier for users to find the Bump slot without having to look for it at the bottom of the list of maps? If that's the case, why not put the Bump in 2nd place in that list? Diffuse surely is more important map than Bump so it deserves the top place in that list, no? Am I the only one thinking like that? Now it really confuses me making me think I changed the strength of Diffuse and sometimes even dragging Diffuse textures in the Bump slot.Aleksandar Mitov

Hi, Alex_M
Thank you for the feedback. I'll forward it to our developers for consideration.
I would appreciate more feedback about maps slots order in general as our goal is to make it easy for all users to work with V-Ray.
Best regards,

agree too
if you really feel there needs to be a different arrangement, i think a simple poll would give you all the necessary info
bump map at the top of the list just doesnt make sense and it very confusing now to work withMartin

while i can understand the desire to rearrange a bit (having bump at the bottom of a long list is a touch annoying) sticking it at the top above diffuse is illogical. as is putting gtr tail falloff and anisotropy above refraction and (refraction) glossiness (should specify.. as it stands there are two identically named glossiness map slots) seems like the changed order of the slots was done semi randomly!
for me, the top of the rollout could be as follows:
diffuse
reflection
refl. glossiness
bump
refraction
refr.glossiness
self illumination
and then all the others..
im sure others will suggest totally different orders.

maybe, thinking about it a bit more and clustering (a bit) similar concepts :
diffuse
reflection
refl.glossiness
refraction
refr.glossiness
opacity
bump
displacement
self illumination
then the others..

Please move it back to where it was - it hurts my eyes to see it at the topLast edited by olly; 15-06-2018, 08:36 AM.

its funny someone tried to make "order" in the maps rollout but they forgot to delete no longer supported highlight glossiness )
