  • Alsurface black buckets in render - urgent

Default alsurface shader with sss mix at 1, with 2 basic meshes intersecting - it gives this render error. SSS values varying per bucket near the intersections.

Tried several vray versions, same issue all the time.

Tried rendering in progressive (still slight flicker) and cryptomatte didn't come out correctly on the meshes with alsurface.

What's the issue here? Have a tight deadline and i would like to know what's causing this and if it's fixable or not......

This doesn't happen if the meshes aren't intersecting, but i have a shot to do that require alsurface and several meshes are intersecting.

Can't seem to reproduce this, could you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look?

Sent it right now, buckets where the geometry intersect.

        Hello,

Indeed there's an issue around the areas of intersection, so I've logged it in our bug tracker under VMAX-9164. A possible workaround would be to increase a bit the sss density scale value or decrease the sss radiuses.

        Best regards,

I understand, but it's still there in the animation, doesn't matter the radius or density. I recreated the sss effect via sss2 and some blend materials for now. Any ETA or when this gonna be fixed?

Our developers are already investigating the problem. I'll additionally bump its priority.
