VIZ 2006 - maps not rendering [updated - bug in max/viz]
We are on subscription with VIZ here at my office and have had no program errors using the 1.46.15 version of VRay. We even use the new "real-world mapping" system for most of our common materials. It saves us a step, and we have yet to experience issues with it. Of course we still use the standard UVW map procedures with most of our bitmap based materials.
Any news on the most compatible version of VRay to work with VIZ 2007? Do we use the Max 8 version yet?
At present, the only thing that you can do is to use the previous V-Ray build (1.46.xx) since people say that it runs fine with VIZ 2006.
Best regards,
Vlado
What all information do we need to email to get a previous build ?
Thanks,
Mike
Just write to vray@chaosgroup.com explaining the situation you have,
your support datas, (for the download section) and point in the email you are requesting for the 1.46.15 build.
I don't know if this is a certain thing or not, but I've found that using the built in frame buffer with irr map works except that I'm getting unusually bright maps. I think I have to tweak the curve editor? I'm using vray 1.47.03 with viz2006 release 7.0.
So I think I managed to track this issue down; I still think it is a weird problem in Autodesk VIZ and I'll have to take it with the 3dsmax/VIZ development team, but for now, it looks like bitmaps work fine again in VIZ 2006/2007. For now, you'd still have to use the 1.46.15 build though.
Vlado, I've got gamma correction turned off. I've reset viz, set everything to defaults and still getting bright maps. I thought it was gamma correction too. I even tried setting gamma correction up and turning it way down, and it still comes out brigher, although it helps. The photoshop version is correct. The viz version isn't.
I had the same problem in Viz. The floor materials are always getting very very bright, even if the light isnt that bright. In my case it has to do with Viz's Exposure controls.
