  • some people seem to encounter the problem while others don't.

1.46 is the most reliable with viz2007 so it's probably best to use that version for any production renders for the time being...

      • I give up. 1.47.03 worked perfect all week now today its gone bonkers again.

I'm going to install the old version but can someone tell me how to uninstall version 1.47.03 because the demo & free versions came with built in removal tools in the installer but 1.47.03 doesn't.

It dosen't appear in the add/remove software dialogue so if it is a matter of picking the relevant dll and such could someone tell me which files i need to remove.

        Cheers

        • sure, grasshopper

          1) delete all files starting with VR from the root max/viz directory
          2) delete all files starting with VR from the plugins directory
          3) delete the VRAYPLUGINS folder from the plugins directory

that should do it - go ahead and install 1.46.15

FYI - my experience with 1.47 went the same - worked for a bit (or seemed to) then quit, so I'm back on 1.46, too. And yeah, no biggie to go back IMO, but I'd much rather move forward

          • Cheers Matt,

That should save me cocking it by installing one over the top of the other

              • back again!

I (My boss) decided to persist with the 1.47 anyway and i think i might of cracked it. I hope this hasn't been suggested earlier but i'm sure it's the real world scale option in the texture coordinates that is the cause.

I have been through 2 scenes now and changed any materials with this checked and so far so good everything renders fine. It means changing some of the geometeries uvw's but hey.

Anyway if anyone would like to test this and confirm/destroy this theory please let me know what your outcome is.

                • shouldn't need to worry about it now as the problem is apparently fixed for 1.5 (see posts in general section)

just waiting for those dongles now...

                  • Viz 2007 and 1.47 - this is still an issue - even with calcs off and no real world mapping...just thought I would add an update.

                    • yeah same here.

Set off a 200 frame ani with vray 1.5, and 6 of the 12 machines are changing the size of the uvw mapping. its as if they turn off use real world scale!

I am trying to fix by setting all the uvw's to 1,1,1 not real world.

Id really like it if someone could confirm that this is an ongoing problem, maybe in vray i dont know. Me and a collage have spent a few late nights now trying to work out what it is.

                      Thanks

This sounds like a different problem. Maybe you can try try to rename the 3dsviz.ini file in the root folder of VIZ and see if this helps somehow.

The original problem in the 1.47 version (texures disappearing during rendering) is definitely corrected in 1.5. There is no way to make the 1.47 version render correctly in VIZ.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

                        • Ment to say im running max 8 sp3

Would it be the same thing, but rename the 3dsmax.ini?

Would I have to do this to all machines?

                          Thanks

                          • Hi all
                            We use Viz2007 and VRay1.5RC3.
While DR, it happens that some buckets not rendering textures.
Is the same bug mentionned here or coming from our local network or a RAM limit ?
                            Thanks for your reply

The bitmap issue has been fixed in VIZ2007 and 1.5RC3.
I'd say what is happening for you is that your render slave machines can't see the texture files.
You need to setup your texture files so that they are in a shared network drive that all the slave machines can access.

                              Hope that helps.

                              Chris.

                              • I am still having the maps problem, DR on VIZ2007, Vray1.5RC3, and not using real world coordinates does not help...

The slave computer is on the same network, and all maps are properly addressed using universal file naming. If I sit a thte slave and type the address into explorer I do get to the map location...

This happens only with bitmaps, procedural maps are rendered fine.

                                Any other idea?

                                thank you
