  • Material Editor background not working with Vray 5 v2.3 and 3dsMax 2023 ( and blue tint on sphere & background)

Software: Installed 3dsMax 2023 about 2 weeks ago (issue persisted then too, but this is getting frustrating). Using latest Vray version 5 Update 2.3

    Issue: (see attached images):

Scenario 1: "Native 3ds Max material swatches" UN-checked in Vray settings. When "Background" checkerboard enabled in Material editor NO checkerboard is shown and material and background get a deep blue/purple tint.

Scenario 2: "Native 3ds Max material swatches" CHECKED in Vray settings. When "Background" checkerboard enabled in Material editor checkerboard IS shown BUT material sphere goes deep solid BLUE and material CANNOT be previewed,

I tried swapping out with a B/W checker board for custom background, but that is just shown blown-out/pure white. (blue tint goes away)

Sort of similar problem to this post, but not quite...something else is going on.

How can I solve this? Did some new check box combination happen with this Max 2023 and Vray that needs to be checked for proper preview. I can't preview refractions with this issue,..

    Thanks,
    Norbert

Yep same here, blue background under the checker box. On a side issue I did briefly try Vray 6.0 beta out of curiosity and LOL the IPR just went black

          Cheers,

Any solution? Is it still unresolved after a year?

The issue should be fixed and implemented in the latest official builds. Which V-Ray build version do you have installed?

I am experiencing the same problem on 3ds max 2024.1 (update to 2024.2 didn't help) and v-ray nightlies vray_adv_61020_max2024_x64_32279 (update to vray_adv_61020_max2024_x64_32344 didn't help). It did work until end of last week without any problems though...

Nevermind, my bad. I must have accidentally enabled the "3ds max material swatches" in the render setup > settings > system

DCHA34 DId you check if that's enabled for you as well?
