  • Deleting materials from the slate material editor causes crashes

For the past year or so I've been having this problem where deleting a bunch of materials from the slate material editor causes Max to crash. Does anyone else experience these crashes? I have a 3dsmax_minidump.dmp file of the crash if this helps?

Yes, reproduce the issue on a fresh scene and attach the dump file.

It's not something V-Ray-related. Try resetting your 3ds Max to its defaults (ENU folder) and see if that makes any difference.

I've just had the same crash with V-Ray 7. Another dump file attached. It doesn't happen ever time. It mostly happens when I've worked on a scene for more than half an hour and then I delete a complex material or a lot of materials at once.

I don't see anything V-Ray related in this dump - something goes wrong in the Slate material editor code..

Interesting. So it's 3ds Max bug?

I remember having this problem a couple of times, years ago though, don't have those issues anymore, but I'm using 2025 now, so they might have fixed something.
