who knows....must be something goofy in the file creation. I got your PM and will sent you my DR files.

((EDIT: Glad they worked. Who knows why.....who cares at this point! ))

We had the same problem with the Spawner constantly restarting. This occured when we installed Max 9 AFTER installing Max 2008 on a new system.
When we re-installed Max 9 again we got a message about a newer version of Backburner already being installed on the system. After removing the newer version, the problem dissappeared.

Apparently, the problem hasn't been solved yet...
Two of our slaves rendered without a problem before the weekend, untill somewhere during the weekend something went wrong. Now the slave starts the dummy scene, but closes it after about half a minute.
In the taskmanager I can see it's trying to render along (CPU usage) untill it stops again...

        -edit-
After re-installing VRay (removed every related file I could think of) the slave rendered fine. But when I cancelled the render and started a new one, the spawner started acting up again... I'm getting really tired of this.

        -edit-
        System settings:
        Cerberus - XP64 bits, Max 9 SP2 x86, VRay 1.50.00 x86 - Queue manager and main renderer
        Luffy - XP64 bits, Max 9 SP2 x86, VRay 1.50.00 x86 - Slave, no problems here
        Shiva - XP32 bits, Max 9 SP2 x86, VRay 1.50.00 x86 - Slave, problems
Ifrit - XP32 bits, Max 9 SP2 x86, VRay 1.50.00 x86 - Slave, haven't checked yet but it looks like this one has the same problems as well...

Turning the 3Gb on seemed to do the trick (for now).

              Same problem here...
after installing 3dsmax9 the DR didn't works anymore.
I already executed the BB server and manager and nothing happened.
I saw de file "Toserver.txt" that appears (\3ds max 9\networking) says: unknown error when loading application. And one thing I note in sometime the 3dsmax.exe uses only 30mb ram (frozen) and doesn't open in the task bar.

I don't know if it helps, but I have a fresh Windows and 3dsmax 9 installs.

Anyone have issues with the DR spawner and Windows 7? When I launch it nothing happens. I get the same result on multiple computers in the office. 64bit OS, some of which are running on bootcamp.

We have just upgraded to Max 2011, running WinXP64. Suddenly the distributed rendering does not work on any of the slaves. We've run BB successfully, opened the vraydummy.max file, but still no luck. We have spent many production hours trying everything possible, yet the spawner just opens and closes....

Does anyone have a real solution, please.

Really frustrating going thru all this pain with VRay DR every time we upgrade!!!

                        same problem here.
except the machines running on win7 64bit.

the vrayspawner.log says that it can´t open the vrayspawner.ini ... I even created one by myself, but still no changes in behaviour.

maybe we just have to wait for vray updates to max2011.

problem solved by reading the forums thread `max 2011 and vray`. just found the attached updated vrayspawner.xml from vlado.

                          now everything works fine.

Yep, my problem was solved the same way. VRay support sent me the updated vrayspawner.xml file, now everything works fine again. Thanks for the good support of VRay

                              I’ve a problem with DR.

To test the new version I’ve installed 3dsmax2011(64bit) and Vray Sp5(64bit) as "slave mode" in one of the slave pc but for the starting of a new job I can’t install their in my pc where there is the license manager .

Since yesterday I’ve used 3dsmax9(64bit) and VraySP4(64bit) with no problem but now the slave pc where I’ve installed the new VraySP5 for 3dsmax2011 doesn’t work anymore for DR.

The problem is that if I launch VraySpawner, 3dsmax start but it can't load vraydummy.max and shut down itself then it restart again with the same problems.

I tried to unistall VraySp5 for 3dsmax2011 but nothing change.

                              Have you got any tips??

                              Thanks in advance

I've also got problems: The previous V-Ray version and Wibu Key drivers worked fine in Max 2011, but after a clean install of the new V-Ray and Wibu key drivers I keep getting the message "Could not obtain a license (10061)" in my Max render dialog. The dongle is still plugged in, and when I try to Launch the V-Ray license server I get a message stating that it could not run because there's already a running instance. So the license server should be running.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
