  • Unhandled Exception: Preparing camera sampler

    Has anyone encountered and Unhandled Exception when Preparing Camera Sampler. This seems to be occurring while network rendering but not when rendering locally.

    UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Updating material (Terrain_VrayBlend_02_tk115) Last marker is at .\src\vrayrenderer.cpp, line 1654: Preparing camera sampler

    Your camera isn't x-ref'd, is it?

      Thanks for the suggestion Eric,

      No Xref, just linked to two dummies for animation (one has a noise controller on it). I did do a merge at one point to clean up the scene.

      I've tried everything I can think of, starting with turning off all Displacement, MB and all bitmap filtering, in a few combinations of the previous. I've merged the object with the offending material into a new scene made a new camera with no luck. Finally I've converted about four 2K TGA maps to 1K and saved them as 16bit. None of that worked so I've just finished packaging it up to send to Vlado.

      I've never seen this error before. Any idea why it would mention camera sampler in relation to a material? Is this some sort of shading error?

        Now I am wondering if it may have something to do with my misuse of the VrayBlend. I am using one Blend inside of another

          Have you tried not using camera at all ? Just from perspective. Maybe it sounds weird (just like any buggg )...
          I just can't seem to trust myself
          So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

              So - just change your material (Terrain_VrayBlend_02_tk115) . . .
              I just can't seem to trust myself

                i wouldnt recommend using a blend within a blend.
                How detailed is the mesh?

                  The scene uses a plugin called CompositeMode.dlt, does anyone know where to find it?

                      I've rebuilt the VrayBlend so that it's not a blend withing a blend. The mesh isn't very detailed as I was hoping to use displacement.

                      Sorry about that, I thought I had cleaned out all of the third party stuff. Thanks Instinct

                          I would love to have this plugin too, afaik the max 6 version has never been released publicly.

                            There is another one that does more or less the same, it's sciAnaComp and it's available in www.maxplugins.de.

                              Yeah, unfortunately Jonathan's scene already uses the CompositeMap one and since I don't have it, 3dsmax seems to crash while loading the scene.
