  • slow material editor with vray 64

    hi all,

running xp64, max 9 64 and vray 64.. finding that the material editor when vray is selected as the render, the material editor slows down. No issues with a standard max 9 scene though. its almost like loading a scene material lib when maps are missing.. really sluggish!

    Sounds like a license issue.

Have the same problem here using xp64 and MAX 9 64-bits, it was stated to have been fixed with a more recent build, but it's still there.

Vlado knows about it and is working on it.

It's seems to be slow using either dongle or software licence, however only on 64-bits Vray.

Yeah, I'm working with Autodesk on the issue trying to find a good solution for this.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

                        * file link reload problems with autocad. floating point issue x64 ( object enabler) > Autodesk has been briefed. hoping for fix in SP1.
                        * 32-bit renderslaves and the announcement it wont co-op after releasing max 9.
                        * buckets hang on vray-displacement. Infinite loop issue 2d-displacement. solved thnx to the RC4 build.
                        * some other small things i forgot.

and last but not least problems No WinXP x64 Printerdrivers for an expensive HP ColorLaserJet (Productinformation says it does but they have no drivers for it ) curse them. arrogant HP.

So before u even start thinking about x64...think twice.

                          yep.. had most of them,

have had to reflash bois to see all 6gb's of ram, first install of win64 kept blue screening',

we are runnign boxx machines, and have had good support but still there are alot of problems,

i like to view animations using the make preview tool, i usually share these with some of my collegues via a .mov file.. though max 9 64 supports only a few basic codecs, so my black magic codecs etc are out of the window. Autodesks work around is to install max 9 32bit on the same computer!! ok, i have combustion on the same machine so just have to render out to a layoff, but still! i'm sure there are other problems etc around the corner.

render times are coming down due to the fact that i can see 6gb's of ram, but i have also never had max crash on high poly count scene more!!!

as you can see i'm pretty angry and a bit pissed that i took the step, i still might consider to revert back to 32bit and spend some more money on render nodes!!

well, we have been running 64bit machines in xp64 for over a year and have had no 64bit os problems or driver related issues.
