sorry, they are low quality renders!!!

look at what appears to be a eliptical blue floor in the middle of the image, in the first image it has no thinkness, in the next image it HAS a thickness as the glass 'halo' floor has been removed..

anyway think i have it fixed.. IOR now set to 1.0 for the glass.

still not gettting a alpha.. will look at the fix thread.. sure i read it as i did now that it was a reported prob...

I read the fix thread.. but as vlado says.. it will only work for the affect shadows.. though not the affect alpha.

ahhh yes, thats right your after alpha not shadows.. doh!

Yes, well it appears that your stuck.. ummm if you need the fix urgently you could try to email vlado and request the fixed build. You will need a good reason tho.

            Yep, sounds good enough.

email him vlado@chaosgroup.com or maybe vray@chaosgroup.com and see how you go.

                Well,

I know its at discretion, but emailed vlado, explained the situation, nothing.. not even a reply!

considering we were up against it, with a large international client, deadline looming, had to detach all glass from the large building we were modeling(which was a pain!!) it would have been nice for some kind of comment back from VRAY..

I am beginning to wonder if its worthwhile looking into incorporating maxwell as a new renderer in our pipeline!!!

the end result was that it compromised our final submission to our client. That, and the fact that there are still bugs that are very annoying from a development point of view e.g the very slow material editor in max9 64 and vray 64.. really proving a pain!!!

Dont be childish, you should know what youre capable of and its not the software developers fault.

Does maxwell still take 60-odd hours to render one interior?

I get quite a lot of emails, so it is easy to overlook something unintentionally, for which I apologize or it may get caught in the spam filter; it is best to re-send your email, send me a private message, or call the office (last option is best for fast results).

As for maxwell, you are, of course, free to use any renderer that you wish, but it should be noted that each of them has its own issues.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

I'm sorry, but I an certainly not being childish!!!!

All I am saying is that I am trying to adapt RC3 into our production line, We are a small company (3 employees), but have demanding clients (dont we all!!) and get alot of pressure passed onto us from them! my point is that we spend money on software so if something isnt working its not our fault either!! and we should be able to rely on a support system.

I am aware that there will be bugs etc. I feel there seem to be a little too many though. I am certainly aware of our capabilites!! we were given a major challenge by our client, so time was very short anyway these problems we experienced, did cause us problems, we didnt fail to deliver, just made the job alot harder (and some extra tasks to do)

anyway Vlado, I will PM you, but in future will make sure we reach vray support through our software supplier, should make it easier for all! I dont want so sound like i am putting Vray down, just venting off some steam, as I managed to get 4 hrs sleep in 3 days. The final visuals look great, so thanks to you for that!

I think I will spend some more time researching maxwell, brazil and MR because of late I feel we have become a little too dependant on one rendering solution.

                      regards

                      g

g, I realise you are letting off steam but Vlado and the Vray team are very busy too. So sometimes you have to wait like the rest of us.

You should see the steam being let of at the maxwell forums, especially after the RC releases... man.. wouldnt want to be those guys.

wish i hadnt said letting off steam!! I understand Vlado and the vray team are busy guys.. I do! and I do like vray.. But, at the time i wrote my coments, i had not had any feedback from VRay, through their support email and emailing Vlado himself, at that time it was poor customer service, if one of my clients phoned, or emailed me then I would have to get back in touch with them, be it through my website, phones or mobile. Thats just part of operation in a commercial capacity..

I am not looking for special treatment, and Vlado has been in touch so all good.. just dont call that childish behaviour!

anyway, we were able to work around the problem, but, that doesnt stop the frustration at times, the frustration being developing 3D visuals that is!! and no software developer is blameless and neither am I!

I dont see where I have been childish.???? dont you understand what i have been trying to explain? other than stating the fact that I should look into other renderers.. Even though we use Vray for all our architectural visuals, its something that I think I should do still, improving our tool set and making us more flexible in the future.

I am can be pretty frank and to the point sometimes, but I am not childish, like alot of people on this forum i run a own my own company and can be up against deadlines sometimes, again lilke so many of us here. What have I got to say sorry for??? I have spoken to Vlado etc there is a good understandign there. if I had major concerns with other software or hardware I would be onto their support and explaining the situation and demanding as much help as I could get too!

I am going off topic now, so will get back to work!!! we have deadlines approaching again!!

i have plenty of Scottish spirit.. maybe thats the problem!!!
