one silly question: where will i find the service packs, in the support-section under
      vray-builds?

btw what´s the difference between the sections pdplayer and
      vray-builds? there´s the same content.

If it impossible to do on the chaosgroup website, email a alternativ solution... 2 days on your servers and 0 in our machines... something wrong ? Maybe the 3rd dimension )

                  oh oh oh

I've install the service pack BUT my problem is always there... I launch the scene with my machine and the backburner to a server that i choose on the backburner list, and when the job is launch, the only buckets i can see are the server than i choose... But only them, without all the render farm buckets, Also my question is : It is possible to launch a job to a machine which is simply a "server machine" or we have to launch a render ONLY on the machine that we work to ??? If it is, it's not very interesting... how can we work on a machine which render a big scene?

I 've trying alot of tricks... i 've move the backburner manager on a different machine, reinstall it, relaunch all the servers and also restart all the renderfarm, but it doesn't work enough...

Please, 3 weeks after, is it possible to launch before my machine a job through the backburner and with the Distribute rendering on an other machine that we choose ? yes or no ?

                  Thanks a lot

You need to set up the DR servers list on the machine where you do the backburner rendering. It does not have to be your working machine.

You can just copy the file vray_dr.cfg from your working machine to the one that does the backburner rendering.

I have test some parameters and i have understand that we have to check the same distribute options... Simply we open a scene and check all the spawners on it, launch the render, save and close... Vray save also this DR options and now it works ! Fantastic !

Just one thing (yes i m boring ^^) But i found that the irradiance map's loading is slower than before...

                        Thanks Vlado

Depending on your 3ds Max setup, either in the \plugcfg folder in the root folder of 3ds Max, or the \plugcfg folder in your local user 3ds Max preferences (something like C:\Users\userName\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\9 - 32bit\enu\plugcfg).

wow... we have a problem ... If i understand everything here we'd better have to parameter the machine which launch the scene and the machine which receive it to be identical ? It's not very usefull if we need to split our rnders on two or more different nodes... Is there any chance to have an option to solve this problem? like an option we could check near the DR option "send to the job..." Because I'm trying to render a frame with a part of our render farm and a second infographist do some tests on his machine and a few render nodes, so i uncheck 2 or 3 nodes from the DR options to let him work efficiently... BUT the server which received my job wasn't update and try to render with the Dr spawner which was used by the 2nd infographist... And finally it render a frame like nothing... With red and green square etc... If we should re-parameter all the time this option it must be very unusefull...
(please don't tell me if i have a good texture path fils... i have ) )

It's impossible to use like you tell us but... if it's possible to have the good option it's really cool

                            Best regards !

Unfortunately, in some machines this file is present and in others is not. I've just installed the vray 1.5 sp1 in a recently reinstalled machine and after the installation ive been unable to locate the Vray_dr file. I have tried some DR first and even some BB tasks on this machine, but this file has failed to appear. Copying it from other machines has not been useful either.

Panthon, the vray_dr.cfg file is created after you do a DR rendering with a machine as a client machine and you have used the Distributed rendering settings dialog to add some DR servers.

It's exact location varies with your particular system, so you may have to search for it.

On the other hand, you must also put it in the correct location on the machine that you want to submit DR through backburner to. This location would depend on whether you have enabled 3ds Max user profiles, and if so, on the user under which the backburner server is running.

Raistlin, the list of DR servers is not submitted along with your scene; it is local to the machine which initiates the DR rendering. So, no, you will not be able to use this in the way that you want. We will consider it for future builds though.

                                Best regards,
                                Vlado
