    Here are my results with the procedure you outlined, missing is some color bleed and the reflection of the ball appears to be very transparent compared to the original, take a look.

    All images were comped in 32-bit float openexrs with a LWF in max.

            Heh, yes it is. That's from a Poster for a movie persiflage i did as a final Project at school :P

              At work I don't have max9 installed, so tonight at home I'll setup a quick scene where there will be a ball, a mirror and a floor, the ball needs to be comped over a base pass but still have it's reflection show up in the mirror and the floor. I'll illustrate later.
