At least the problem where CPU was not at 100% when rendering scenes with lots of bitmaps seems to be fixed. I tested this with one scene and it appeared to work fine.
"When using Bitmaps in scenes, render times could increase; this degradation was more noticeable as the number of machine cores increased. This degradation in performance has been corrected."

I wonder how you can identify if bitmap pager is an issue without testing it?

      Sorry but,

      Anyone has tested the 2010 SP1 + Vray Sp3a ?

Rendertime are better ? Some results to post here ?

We want to switch for Hair and Fur capacity but we need at least the same render speed as max 2008/2009...

      Best regards...

1million poly model, but with a few textures + DR = well... if it is slower than 2k9 - I can't notice it

        2k10 sp1 x64
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

This is my experience of 2010 SP1 so far.

            Frame SP0 SP1

            1400 253 95
            1450 252 90
            1500 220 93
            1550 211 91
            1600 234 97
            1650 311 116
            1700 317 102
            1750 248 97
            1800 344 108
            1850 261 101

Times are in mins with vray Sp3a on Dual Quad Cores.

The more intense the frame the more the saving from my experience.

We now get 100% CPU usage, couldn't be happier

Is this with the bitmap pager on or off?

I've installed 3dmax 2010 sp1 x64 and it still render a lot slower than 2009 (bitmap pager disabled).
                  I'm very dissapointed and frustrated.
In my case it seems there isn't a solution to this very, very important problem.

                    same here
I've got a scene with a forest of trees with opacity mapped leaves. rendering 720p at 1hour a frame (bitmap pager on and off makes no diffirence).
When I "hide" the textures (by way if switching off the path to it so it can't find it) it renders in half the time.

Could be the opacity in my case which is an issue but further testing on my side needs to be done to confirm, but so far no joy
                    Kind Regards,
                    Morne

ok this is really weird. I just built this PC. Here are my results. Win7 64 bit, Max 2010 DESIGN. I have not tried max 9 on this PC yet but i did get significant results with settings.

                      Without SP1: 8:18

With Bitmap Paging off : after SP1

This is so weird im so re-rendering this scene again. ( Just confirmed these results. Im getting some nice times on these new Xeons 5550's. =) Super happy with them cant complain.

Ok has anyone confirmed any more results after sp1. My i7 system is realllly slow after sp1 still on win7 64 bit, 2010 max design. I dont understand and i have turned off the bitmap paging. I will post exact times tomm. I just have a deadline and my new win7 system on 2010 are so much sloweer than my previous systems.
