  • different DR-Buckets

    Hello,

I've looked here in den Forum but haven't found any solution for my problem.

Running DR to render out the still but get different buckets like you see in the image. nothing special in the scene - 3 vraylights, one plane (studiosetup), and the furniture - no textures or hdri in the scene ...

hope you can help me ...

Are you using saved GI files? Can the DR nodes access the GI files, if you have them saved locally in your profile - my documents etc, network nodes may not be allowed access and therefore won't use the GI data and therefore render different.

no - i don't used gi-files. I'm using single frame and is computed directly before the final render. Have now tried to render the gi-file without DR and save to the network-path where the second pc have the same path. Than render the final image with the computed GI-file. this has the same effect and render is much daker than without the GI-file ... ?

I have a similar problem actually two similar problems and one is VERY weird.

Firstly I have one computer, the main workstation, rendering IES lights differently to every other computer in the farm. I actually think the main workstation is rendering them incorrectly, as if they are off, they seem a lot darker and the pattern of the light is not visible, despite the IES file being right there in the scene (the red outline pattern showing up in the rollout, no missing maps according to max or to relink bitmap plugin etc)

              Dark host image:
              http://img220.imageshack.us/i/cam3zorrgbcolor0348.jpg/

              Slave(s) Image:
              http://img442.imageshack.us/i/cam3zorrgbcolor0349.jpg/

I should mention the host pc did the LC and IR maps on its own... fly-through mode, no moving objects. What sort of things should i be checking with this?

Also one of my slaves (12 core dual xeon) was rendering certain buckets differently on a vray mesh object of a tree when it was the sole machine doing the frame! I ended up just importing the tree properly and not using the vrmesh for that particular plant.

Could be that gamma settings are not same in slave and main node.

I can't really reproduce this here, but you have a VRayPlane object and a regular 3ds Max Plane which overlap (they both lie on the Z=0 plane); you should delete one of these as it may cause issues. Other than that, turn on the "Check for missing files" option in the V-Ray system settings, just in case.

                    Best regards,

                      hi Vlado,

have tried once more and can figure out, that this effect is caused by the rect.light. when i turn off the light and activate the GI override the different buckets are away.

i have installed on both machines vray 2.0 only difference is the main pc is 64bit and the slave is 32bit ...

i've tried another render with one dome light - and this is clean.

next test was rendered only with one rect. light from right side - now i see, that the issue is only in the gi - shadow side od the render. look at the second render - there i have the rect. light from the left side ...

                        maybe this help ...

Simon, if you turn off GI entirely, does the problem go away? Also, if you light the scene without a light, and instead use an object that has the Vray Light Material applied, does the problem go away?

Werticus, I suspect your problem is different from Simon's. I too have had trouble rendering IES lights. I never really figured out why my slaves didn't want to render them, but it seemed to have been only an issue if the IES lights were instances of each other. If yours are in fact instanced, try deleting them and remaking them one at a time and see if the problem goes away. Might be a long shot, but I remember that working for me, though I'm not sure why...

I hope that works for you...

turning off the GI doesn't solve the problem - still different buckets, but when i lighten with the lightmat. on a box the buckets are okay and the render is fine.

Ok then; might be a 32-bit vs 64-bit thing, let me run some tests here in that configuration...
