  • Reflection Problem

    Hello everyone, I have a problem with reflection. The reflection is distorted. (See the attached picture) Can you help? thank you in advance

    You may need to post the file.

    But without it, I think it can be your IOR settings, try changing that. Otherwise your anisotropy could have some setting and if you set it at 0.0 you may get some better reflections. It could be the mesh is not straight, somewhat curved, at which point it may make funny reflections. The mesh may need a smooth modifier on it, sometimes I need to do that, specially on boxes, when they are behaving somewhat funny.

      That looks like it's down to smoothing of the geometry, but without seeing the geometry it's hard to tell.

      If you're using turbosmooth (or similar) you may need to add a couple more edge loops just to have greater control over the smoothing of the object. If you're using the new chamfer modifier you may want to use the "smooth chamfers only" checkbox.

        Do you know what setting I have to put in in the QuadChamfer modifier for max 2014? I can't seem to get nice curves without distorting the smoothing of the original planar surface.

          I usually put a Smooth modifier and turn on the auto smoothing option...
