  • 3DS MAX 2018 Hair&Fur problem during rendering

    Hi to all,

i finalize styling on my characters beard, which i make using 3dsmax's native hair and fur tool.
In the viewport everything looks fine for the whole timeline/animation, since i dont use dynamics and beard just follows the head's movement.
BUT when i RENDER the animation beard gets destroyed/distorted after some frames.... it looks like a strong wind blows from one direction and destroys it...
Then when i stop render, beard looks distorted in the viewport also.

When i render with scanline using "geometry" option selected in the rendering parameters of Hair&Fur, everything works good.
The problem appears when i use the "mr" option selected in the rendering parameters of Hair&Fur and render with Vray.

    Any ideas ?

thanks in advance for your precius time.

    Hi,

Could you please send us that scene or a part of it to see if we can replicate this issue here?

Hi, here is the link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1a0ycnjzn4...GROUP.zip?dl=0

Try to render the range 132 / 158 and check the beard...

      thanks in advance

        Thanks for the scene.

The hair behavior in render and viewport is very strange indeed but the issue is definitely not in our plugin. The combination of Hair&Fur and Point cache seems to break the hair placement for mr prim mode which can be a known issue or new one for 3DS Max I can't be sure about that. However, baking the animation to keys only for the emitter works better according to my tests so you can try that as a workaround.
