  • Vray Clipper and multi/sub-obj material

Can we get vray clipper to work with multi-sub obj materials? I dont know if it is hard to figure out, but as of right now, the cut polygons that have a different mtl ids seem to be assigned mtl id 1, which doesnt make any sense to me...

    Hello,

There's a control to explicitly set the material ID of the cut, but it will set one material ID to all the cuts.

    Best regards,

I know and thats the problem when using more complex objects and multiple sub ids.
Is there no way to improve on this?

The problem is how to decide which sub id to use where. Consider the following simplified case with a plane clipper intersecting a box:

Name:	clip_multiIDs.png
Views:	111
Size:	2.1 KB
ID:	1041532
The top part of the box has ID 2 and the left side has ID 3. If I use the ID of the last face of real geometry before the ray hits the clipper, then it's ID will be view dependent and even worse - it will change in reflections, refractions etc..
