(although I have worked around it by always rendering to a temp directory and moving files to "permanent" location after every render completes. That way I've got 2 versions on tap until I re-render as well.)

Agree too... Especially for previews..
Maybe there could be some automatic function that just adds a number if the file already exist... or an overwrite option, etc..

Also it would be nice if .exr are supported when choosing the render-to file browser.
