  • VRay for Maya?

I don't know if this is considered heresy to ask a question like this but I would love to know if there are any plans for this... Or if it's even possible? I've been using Maya for a while now at work and I would love to be able to render our characters in VRay but they (the company I work for) doesn't want to invest in Max.

    Thanks,

I believe thee are plans for a port. There have been discussions
about it in the past and the Chaotics mentioned something in that
regard. As to when, I just do not know...

I would like to see Vray ported to Maya. We are primarily MAC based and are very limited to rendering applications with good global illumination. I to would like to know if there is any future plans with Vray and Maya.

What about VRay standalone with connections to all of those platforms?

I try to make a mine personal response:
make Vray REALLY STABLE at first, and THEN transpose it to Maya and wich software you want!

yup the best thing would be a stand alone version of vray so it could be used with maya and xsi...

A_K i think your missing the point. why spend time writing connection programs for other software packages right now when time can be spent making vray stable. im sure you would mus\ch rather a stable package you can use in maya rather than one thats just riddled with bugs

i think max users are just being selfish

I asked in a letter the vray team about the maya version , and got the answer that it would be released in the next couple of months , if that isn't the case...have to go use mental ray...can't stand around max anymore

                        A_K,
I am sorry to say that I have a great doubt about the answer of "next couple of months". In software developing industry, couple of months can alway be turned up to be a "year" long. Do they (pepole from Chao) have a roadmap with time table for the maya version development. I can't stand around 3DS Max anymore. I am going to switch to Maya version 5 + mental ray....

I believe everybody has a point, but no matter how much people
make noise - one thing for sure, only the chaotics know better
They know their business well, they know how to make their patrons
happy and they surely have their priorities pretty laid out...

Roy, this section is called wishlist. It is quite obvious that the programmers will make their own decisions.
