Can we start a poll to get a feel for how many users are actually interested in this? Houdini is the future! Screw AD and long live SESI!

Feel free to start a poll At this Siggraph there were actually quite a few people that asked us about V-Ray for Houdini. It's a bit of a pickle for us - Houdini or Modo...

Anyways, if we were to do a plugin for Houdini, what level of integration would you expect? Basic geometry and materials are not too difficult, but we can't do everything that Mantra does (at least not right away and it might take years to get there).

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Im not an expert at statistics but I would say that houdini base is larger then modo. I could be wrong though. Imo houdini desperately needs a decent renderer. But it may not be a financially sound decision since I think the base is small in either of them.

Vlado, If same functionality as in 3dsmax will be available - its quite enough. For volumes, complex shaders and FX stuff native mantra is best solution. But for visualisation simplicity and usability vray is the first one!

I don't care which one, either one of them will annoy Autodesk .

Already nuke has vray and even rhino, but not houdini.
I am regret that bought dongle a few years ago/
Its so sad that that chaos doesn't listen users.
Why rhino needs vray more than houdini? It does not have even timeline!
                  I am dissapointed..

Even if we do decide to do V-Ray for Houdini, it will take time. Also, Rhino may not have a timeline, but it does have more users than Houdini. Not everyone does VFX... At the same time, Houdini already has a very good render engine, or so I've heard.
